My Favorite Licensed Manga of 2014
This will be a quick post because I didn’t read much licensed manga. More than half of what i bought is still sitting on my shelves. I’m not going to consider manga that I already read in Japanese because although I bought the manga out of duty, I didn’t read the manga again.
This year wasn’t very exciting for me in terms of licensed manga. Nothing new is making me “die” for the next volume or prompting me to write blog posts about my thoughts on the manga. But forgetting that, here are the 3 new series I liked.
3. “Witch Craft Works” Volumes 1 & 2 by Ryu Mizunagi
2. “Noragami: Stray God” Volumes 1 & 2 by Adachitoka
1.”My Love Story” Volumes 1 & 2 by Kazune Kawahara and Aruko
All of my picks were a lot of fun to read and not too trying on the brain. Because of 2014’s real life circumstances, I couldn’t enjoy anything gloomy or thought provoking.
I continue to read “Skip Beat” and “Voice Over”. My husband continues to read “Vinland Saga”.
The biggest disappointment of the year for me was “Black Rose Alice” by Setona Mizushiro. I liked “After School Nightmare” and “X Day”. “Black Rose Alice” doesn’t approach these works.
I’m looking forward to seeing other manga readers best of 2014 lists and their opinions on the year in licensed manga in general. To be honest, I feel out of the loop on licensed manga this year.
